4/27/17: Read to the end of page 82. Vocabulary quiz on Monday as well as a chapter 2/3 quiz on Monday.
4/24/17: Students are assigned to read to the top of page 26 tonight as homework. Students were also given 20 vocabulary words from Chapter 1 of Bridge of San Luis Rey for a vocabulary quiz on Monday, 5/1/17.

We just finished To Kill a Mockingbird. We are now reading Lord of the Flies.
3/30/17: Student-chosen poem recitations are due tomorrow. The rubric was handed out to all the students. Also students should have read chapter 4, written three questions from the chapter, and written down all unknown words from the chapter by class tomorrow.
3/21/17: 5-Paragraph essays are due Friday, March 24th. We are beginning our next novel, Lord of the Flies today. Students should have already read Chapter 1. Homework tonight is to write a 1 paragraph summary of Chapter 1, collect all unknown words and write 3 questions from Chapter 1. This will all be turned in on Thursday.
Review of Class Today, 3/9/17: Excellent class today with students working hard on their essays! At this point, you should have completed your ANI chart, categorized it, identified top 3 compelling arguments for both columns, chosen a side to write, written your thesis, and written your outline. Tomorrow you will be finishing up any of those steps and writing your rough drafts.
Homework tonight: study/prepare for your grammar quiz on lesson 12: labeling and diagramming transitive active verbs and direct objects.
Homework for 3/7/17: Categorize your ANI charts (column A and N), complete extra practice #'s 5-8.
Homework from 3/3/17: Students are to choose the essay prompt on which they will write their essay. This weekend they are to create an "ANI" chart about their chosen prompt. This is to be done by Monday class time.
They have been given an opportunity to choose a poem, speech, or passage from the Realms of Gold volumes in the class, memorize it, and recite it to the class on Friday, 3/24/17.
Tonight's homework: 2/24/17 Study for To Kill a Mockingbird Test on Monday.
"Neither a Borrower Nor a Lender Be" recitations will be on Wednesday, 3/1/17.
5 Paragraph Essay will be due on Friday, 3/17/17.
